Josh Brolin set to Star in OLDBOY Remake

Not long ago Josh Brolin was rumored to be joining the cast in Spike Lee's remake of the Park Chan-wook revenge thriller Oldboy, today it's been made official. Brolin is officially attached the film and will be plying the lead character. I've gotta say... this is a much better choice than Will Smith, who was previously attached to the role. Brolin is a freakin' badass actor, and this is a great character for him to take on. Brolin's casting is the only reason that I have to get excited for this film. It was also recently revealed that Christian Bale could end up playing the villain in the film, which would be another great reason to see the movie.

The original Korean film was just so well done that I didn't really feel the need to see a remake, I'm also not a big fan of Spike Lee' directing work, but with the right cast and the right script I think he could pull it off, just like he did with The Insider

If you haven't seen the original film yet, I suggest you check it out. It's a great revenge film. The story centers on a man who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path to take revenge on those who destroyed his life.

What are your thoughts on Brolin being cast in the lead role of this Oldboy remake?
